SOAP IN THE EYES

Vegetable soaps made from olive oil have many benefits for your skin, but not for your eyes!

Natural soap comes from the chemical reaction of NaOH (lye) with the fatty acids of the oils and butters we use. The use of a bar of natural soap is safe for washing the body because lye in the soap undergoes a chemical reaction called saponification. This process neutralizes the lye, turning it into soap and glycerin. As a result, the soap becomes mild and non-caustic, reducing the risk of skin or eye damage.

However, it is important to avoid getting soap directly into your eyes, as it can cause irritation and discomfort. In this case, momentary discomfort may occur, but it is not dangerous. If soap comes into contact with your eyes, rinse with plenty of water for at least 10-15 minutes, and the discomfort will quickly pass. Eye drops, artificial lubricants, or your own tears can help relieve repeated discomfort.

I remember keeping my eyes tightly closed when washing with natural soap.
